Sooji Halwa is a sweet dish made with semolina, sugar, ghee, and aromatic spices. It has a soft and creamy texture, a rich sweet flavor, and is popular for festivals and breakfast.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of semolina (sooji)
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of ghee
- 4 cups of milk
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg powder
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of chopped almonds
Instructions:
- In a large heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the semolina and roast until it turns golden brown, stirring constantly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the milk to the pan and stir until well combined. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the milk has been absorbed and the semolina has softened.
- Add the sugar, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, and almonds to the pan and stir until well combined. Cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened.
- Transfer the Sooji Masala Halwa to a serving dish and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve the halwa hot or warm, garnished with chopped nuts or raisins if desired.
