simple recipe for Sooji ka Halwa


Sooji Halwa is a sweet dish made with semolina, sugar, ghee, and aromatic spices. It has a soft and creamy texture, a rich sweet flavor, and is popular for festivals and breakfast.

  Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of semolina (sooji)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of ghee
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg powder
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/2 cup of chopped almonds

Instructions:

  1. In a large heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the semolina and roast until it turns golden brown, stirring constantly, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the milk to the pan and stir until well combined. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the milk has been absorbed and the semolina has softened.
  3. Add the sugar, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, and almonds to the pan and stir until well combined. Cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened.
  4. Transfer the Sooji Masala Halwa to a serving dish and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve the halwa hot or warm, garnished with chopped nuts or raisins if desired.
