Masala oats, healthy simple recipe

Masala oats are a healthy and nutritious breakfast option. They are high in fiber, protein, and vitamins and help lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar levels, and provide sustained energy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the oats. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and the water has been absorbed, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. In a separate pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and green chili and fry until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the onion, tomato, ginger, and garlic to the pan and fry until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the turmeric, coriander, garam masala, salt, and pepper to the pan and mix well.
  5. Add the cooked oats to the pan and mix until the spices are evenly distributed. Cook for another 2-3 minutes or until heated through.
  6. Transfer the masala oats to a serving dish and garnish with cilantro (if desired).
