Masala oats are a healthy and nutritious breakfast option. They are high in fiber, protein, and vitamins and help lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar levels, and provide sustained energy.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of oats
- 2 cups of water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of garam masala
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the oats. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and the water has been absorbed, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and green chili and fry until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the onion, tomato, ginger, and garlic to the pan and fry until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the turmeric, coriander, garam masala, salt, and pepper to the pan and mix well.
- Add the cooked oats to the pan and mix until the spices are evenly distributed. Cook for another 2-3 minutes or until heated through.
- Transfer the masala oats to a serving dish and garnish with cilantro (if desired).
