Chilli Chicken is a popular dish in India and several other Asian countries. It is made from chicken pieces that are marinated in a spicy sauce and then stir-fried with chili peppers, onions, and spices. The dish is often served with rice or flatbread.
- 500 g boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1 medium sized capsicum diced (optional)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 3 green chillies, chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chilli sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 table spoon black pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons cornflour
- 4 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together chicken pieces, 2 tablespoon cornflour, salt and (1/2 ts)black pepper powder
- In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from pan and set aside.
- In a another pan, add onions, capsicum, garlic, ginger, and green chillies. Cook until onions are translucent.
- Add soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, black pepper powder and sugar, and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together remaining cornflour and water. Add to the pan and stir until sauce thickens.
- Add chicken back to the pan and stir until chicken is coated with sauce.
- Serve hot over steamed rice. Enjoy!
Tips:
- Switch the flame off just before reaching the consistency you like.
